Modern cameras are remarkably capable, but they don’t give photographers complete control over perspective.

Large-format view cameras traditionally allowed photographers to shift, tilt, and reposition the relationship between the lens and image plane. With today’s 35mm and medium-format cameras, we often have to make compromises in the field—especially when photographing architecture, interiors, landscapes, and other subjects where perspective and geometry matter.

The result can be converging verticals, keystoning, unwanted distortion, or compositions dictated by the limitations of the camera rather than by the photographer’s intent.

In this free webinar, we’ll explore how Photoshop can extend the controls available to you in the field. We’ll look at perspective correction, transform techniques, and Photoshop’s Warp tools—including how splitting a warp gives you much greater control over different areas of an image.

More importantly, we’ll look at when and why to use these techniques. Understanding what can be corrected later can influence where you position the camera, which lens you choose, and how much room you leave in the composition when making the photograph.

The demonstrations will use Adobe Photoshop, but the larger goal is understanding perspective, geometry, and image transformation as part of the craft of post-processing.

The camera captures the starting point. Post-processing gives you another opportunity to shape the photograph you intended to make.
